favourite Writings

This is a compilation of some of our favorite writings, be it poem, children’s books, or novels- and a little bit
about what why we love it so much!

Books

the work and the glory series

Picture
This is my favourite series of all time! It is a piece of historical fiction looking at the early history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It follows a fictional family through their belief and unbelief in Joseph Smith and restoration of Jesus Christ’s church. You journey with the Steed family through heartache, trials and miracles as it chronicles actual events (with a fictional twist) from New York State to Salt Lake. You come to love this family and early church leaders as you laugh and cry along with them. Definitely recommend it to anyone who loves historical fiction or wants to learn some Church History in a fun way!

Final Grade: 5 out of 5 stars

twilight saga

Picture
Oh Twilight, how I love you! It wasn’t until after Micah and I watched the first movie did I read all the books. Although everyone did go a little crazy over the whole franchise, it was for a good reason- the books were good! The love story between Bella and Edward was so sweet and innocent (it doesn’t hurt that the author is LDS and teaches chastity before marriage and the concept of eternal life/love…) A fantastic read from start to finish; I'm not embarrassed to say this is one of my favourite series that will remain on the bookshelf for years to come.

Final Grade: 5 out of 5 stars

the hunger games

Picture
This series was great all around. Very entertaining for young adults and adults a like. Similar to Twilight in that there is a love triangle between a young girl and two guys, and you end up rooting for either one guy or the other!  The first book was my favourite, however it does have a cliffhanger ending so you immediately want to pick up book two! Way better than the movie, read the books to find out for yourself how good they are before the next movie comes out to ruin it!

Final Grade: 4 out of 5 stars (for whole series), 5 out of 5 stars (for The Hunger Games, book 1)
