Ashley and Micah's Books
Ashley and I both have a love for books connecting back to our youth. Growing up my favorites were Bruce’s Loose Tooth, Clumsy Clyde, and Let Papa Sleep. I was an avid fan of Calvin and Hobbes and Garfield most of my teen years when it came to leisure reading but did enjoy a good novel if it was written well; such novels as the Redwall series as well as the Shannara series. Ashley enjoyed books in her childhood such as Little House on the Prairie, The Boxcar Children, Anne of Green Gables, and many more. In Grade 1 she won a prize for reading 100 books! Being an adult now I find it hard to sit down and enjoy good long novels like I used to, instead turning to the scriptures Preach My Gospel or good poetry to fill my leisure reading. If I only read one thing I decided it best be stuff that makes me better and not just entertains. Ashley on the other hand has continued with her love of books, reading all of the modern staples (although not enjoying all of them as much as the general population seems to be). She has read the Twilights (loved the books and didn’t mind the movies), Hunger Games (loved the books and hated the movie), Harry Potter (books were not her favorite but she didn’t mind them, she went to see all the movies on principle), Matched, and on and on… I continue to write books (children’s books as well as novels) and still enjoy writing a good song/poem, and Ashley still enjoys reading them!
