4. Synergy Build: Leadership Knight

11/24/2016

Picture
Two Handed Leadership Knight (Madora pulls this off at an A+ level):

1. Scoundrel/Earth/Air/Man-at-Arms/Leadership- 1
2. Leadership- 5 (After Leadership helm it should be 6)
3. Two handed/Man-at-Arms-5
4. Body Building/Willpower- 1-3

1. Bully
2. Opportunist
3. Five Star Dinner
4. Picture of Health
* Comeback Kid + What a Rush (Madora comes with these)

Str +2.5 (8/10/12)
Con +1.25 (6/7.5/9)
Spd +1.25 (6/7.5/9)

OVERALL: This is NOT a build you would want for your main two source hunters because frankly Madora will build into it better (free "comeback kid") and it is by no means one of the two most powerful builds in the game. This build would be used when you pick up Madora or are using a four person creation mod. Strong Early, Moderate-to-Strong Mid-End.

How to play: Early-Mid game the knight will be saving peoples butts often due to her massive hp and ability to deal massive damage vs bosses (who don't take reduced damage from slashing). Battering Ram and knock-down should be used often and maximized (try obviously hitting the most enemies possible) as it is some of your earliest real CC. Pick up Midnight Oil, Summon Spider, and Boulder Bash in Earth and Teleportation, Winds of Change, and Thunder Jump in Air- these skills only require you to be lv 1 in the skill and don't have penalties for low Int while all being VERY useful skills! Also think about putting all your scrolls on her as well as giving her the unique summon of the game to give her even more options. If you are having trouble keeping her alive and/or have used all your healing potions consider picking up "five star dinner" talent and crafting simple things like "french fries" (potato + knife + over) or fish pies (wheat + M&P = flour + water + = dough + fish + oven= fish pie) which will act as early powerful healing potions. Creating voodoo dolls and throwing then on her will give her even more options. By Mid-End game the two handed knight won’t be dealing nearly as much damage (due to a complete lack of any AoE skill in 2-handed man-at-arms builds), but with flurry and rage/oath they will be decent vs single targets. Throw all your armor potions and res potions on her as well as crafted large healing potions to keep her alive for as long as possible; she will become very hard to kill with comeback kid + what a rush.

I have "Immunity to Fear" on this guy (for my party) but do not have any gear with it. Level 6 Leadership and 5 in Spiritual trait. How did I get this immunity?

Leadership knight in my guide is not the build for either of the two source hunters but is the build for Madora (thus "Madora Leadership Knight"). Are you using Madora or a Source Hunter for this build? If you are using one of your Source Hunters you will gain the immunity via traits... If you are not, the immunity to fear has to come from either A) Gear or B) someone else in the party with level 5 leadership

I found a good spear for her (currently lvl 20), it deals more damage than a crafted two-handed axe (my mule is lvl 5 Blacksmith). The drawback is that it deals piercing damage (218+10-31 fire damage). Should I switch to a two handed axe instead?

Craft a two-handed axe that spawns with a +%Crit chance, then sharpen axe in grindstone, then add tenebrium damage to axe and then change the tenebrium damage to fire damage (now just add a fire essence to the axe) and let me know how close the crafted 2 handed axe is to 218 + 10-31 fire damage

you were absolutely right:
267 raw damage, 6% crit chance + 40 air damage (no tenebrium yet).

* sorry, lvl 12, not 20

I might be misunderstanding, but are you saying that you first apply tenebrium and then on the same weapon you add a fire essence? Does this somehow boost the damage beyond just adding the fire essence in the first place? Or are you saying for lower levels add tenebrium and then for the last weapon use the other major essences instead?

Additionally, I noticed that you added a different essence to each of the 4 characters weapons. Is that just to strike a good balance of the various elements?

Do you use the mod "Epic Encounters"? Was about to start an EE playthrough (have played once before in the original) and wasn't sure if I should turn it on or not if I wanted to follow your build guides.

Have you considered switching Madora to sword/shield or dual wielding? You can get leadership on weapons, which can save you 9 skill points, at the cost of 3 to get dual weilding up to 2. Ofc the downside is lower damage output, but it sounds like this Madora is gimped anyway due to the fact that she is putting 15 skill points into leadership. Switching to 1H also lowers her str requirement, allowing her to get some Int, which will allow her to cast more and better spells ( with the 6 skill points she saves by switching to two leadership weapons.

Why would you want your warrior to be another caster? you have plenty of better casters. For Mad you just need her to tank for the party and give boosts

She is not a caster. The spells listed for her to take require no Intelligence to pull off at 100% effectiveness and the investment is negligible (ie. investment= nothing, return on investment= extreme).

Since I really dislike playing with Madora, I decided to hire a henchman named Pavel, he seems a pretty good warrior and has 5 star dinner included plus Two Handed mastery. It seemed like a good replacement for her if you just hate Madora

Thanks for this tip, I often find Madora's dialogue to be annoying as well.

Only 6 talents listed here. What would you recommend for the 7th? I was thinking bigger and better or iron hide.

I might be late for this but... I'm building one of my SH as a full tank healer (geo buffs an hydro heal/buffs) and the other as a fire/geo mage, so I got madora as melee dps ditch and bairdotr (building as "archery rogue").

I was thinking on giving leadership to the tanker because of the trait bonus. What would you recommend to swap leadership of this madora build for? Or would you recommend to keep the leadership for her and get more buffs/debuffs for the tanker? If so, what would be nice?

I started playing not long and been reflecting about the nice combinations I could make, so ANYTHING will be well appreaciated.
Thank in advance.

PS: the idea of leadership on the tanker also comes because I want him to be really a wall. So I'm willing to sacrifice any dmg potential (STR only enough for gears, a lot of INT for heals and cooldowns, and a nice amount of COS/SPD for AP to ditch everything, positioning and of course HP) and it seems the leadership buff would benefit madora a lot more than himself

This is very very late :) I was wondering why you put spd and con even? My understanding is that only if you are using Glass Cannon do you keep Con and Spd even. I thought you wanted Spd somewhere near 2x Con for non Glass Cannons?
