Gear/Crafting/Buying Levels 1-7 (Evelyn)

Money

1. Library in Cyseal (upstairs Mayor's house) pick up the two books Cyseal the Play and Cracking up the Audience, go to the stage area (to the south of the Mayor's house) and perform

2. Stealing everything in sight. Use "walk-in-shadows" (which should be on at least one of your two source hunters AT creation) and steal everything. Crafting items and any dagger/knife (even golden) don't sell, everything else is free to sell.

3. Crafting swords and axes is your first real money crafting option and both sell for the same- so don't combine two irons to make a steel bar because you will be cutting your profit in half! Craft yourself all the swords and axes you can every level but only sell the axes and swords which have spawned with the +1 ap extra feature (they will have a value 3-4x what the others have) , all the rest turn back into iron/steel again.

Buying

1. All fish, meat, potatoes, cheese, apples, and wheat. Fish/Meat + Cooking = Dinner (15% heal +1 Str), Potatoes + Cooking = Boiled Potatoe (10% Heal +1 Con), Wheat + Mortel and Ped = Flour, Water Barrel + Cup = Cup of Water, Cup of Water + Flour = Dough, Dough + Apple/Cheese + Cooking = Cheese Bread/ Apple Pie (10% Heal, +1 Con, Poison Resist). Don't waste healing potions levels 1-7, save them for later (to craft large healing potions) and use food instead. These items only have positives which means that with Five-Star you won't have to worry about a -2 that certain foods will give!

2. All flowers, mushrooms, plants, etc. These will cost nothing and all have uses, most are simply +Empty Vial, but some will help you create items such as "Charming Arrows". Buy them all.

3. Most crafting gear you will end up buying (everything from empty vials to rope to arrows heads to ore to nails to essense to empty grenades) and it won't cost you anything- feathers (you will only need 2x feathers per Dex based unit), wooden dolls + needles (only need a half a dozen or so of these), chicken feet (won't need any of these), horns (won't need any of these), claws (would only need four of these, max) and starfish (only need around a half dozen of these to make healing grenades and a leadership helm, after that they are worthless) are the only ones you can ignore and not buy.

4. you will need two ring kits per person (so a party of four would need 8) + 2 ASAP (the cost of the ring kit doesn't matter as the more expensive ring kits still produce the same item) so that would be a max of 10 ring kits.

5. Pickaxes. A lot of people sell these and they are cheap enough to make the transition from pickaxe to steel bar to axe to make it worth it.

6. Tormented Souls. Yes these would also appear in #3 but are so important that they get they own number. Buy every single tormented soul at all costs.

7. Novice skill books. You won't have the money to buy adept so don't bother with them yet.

8. You will need a pair of "immune to slow" shoes for each party member (4 max), the stats on the boots are irrelevant. Make sure you have four pairs at all costs, and then put them in a backpack (if you happen to have another pair of boots that is better)

9. Two to three pieces of +1 lockpicking gear if you have not found any yet.

10. Pixie Dust from weaver of time. She always has some, pick them up.

Gear

1. Pixie Dust + Claw/Skull/Feather = Magical Claw/Skull/Feather, Magical Skull + Ring Kit = Skull Ring (+1 Con), Magical Feather/Magical Claw + Rope/Thread = Claw/Feather Belt/Necklace (+1 Str/ Dex). Put the rings on everyone as well as the necklaces and belts (Dex on Dex based units and Str on Str based units).

2. Pixie Dust + Tooth = Magical Tooth, Magical Tooth + Ring Kit/Rope/Thread = Tooth Ring/Belt/Necklace (+1 Charisma). With this gear you will have +4 Charisma to put on your Ranger whenever a R.P.S. game comes up. It is also needed (5 Charisma) with Petpal to optimize XP and ability to fulfill all quests in game.

3. Orc Gear burried on southwest beach will clearly be some of the best gear out there levels 1-7 and can be grabbed fight free as early as lv 2. Go get it.

4. Pixie Dust + Starfish/Antlers/Eye = Magical Starfish/Antlers/Eye, Magical Starfish/Antlers/Eye + Leather Helm = Starfish/Antler Helm (+1 Leadership, +1 Con, +1 Per). These are great early helms to make until you find upgrades. Madora should always have a +1 Leadership helm on.

5. Gear should all prioritize +1 primary stats.

6. +1 Loremaster/Blacksmithing/Crafting/Tenbrium should also go to your mule, optimize the mule as best you can so that you have to spend the least amount of ability points as possible. Ie. Two rings with +1 Loremaster, Belt + Gloves with +1 Blacksmith +1 Crafting, misc. Item +1 Tenebrium = you only need 3 points into Loremaster/Blacksmithing/Crafting and might not need to add any points into tenebrium.

7. Keep tools on appropriate people; ie. a repair hammer in Jahan's inventory to repair on the fly (if you HAVE to), an identify glass on your mule, pickaxe/shovel, etc.

Confused how and when to use food. It seems like I'm pretty set with skills etc-not sure when to use action points on food during combat. There must be a strategy to it right?

A couple questions. Would you change out Con rings for ones with primary stats? I.E. if I find a ring for Ranger with perception on it, would I change it out on Ranger? Would you change it out for a Dex or Int ring? Same applies for Str etc. Not sure what takes precedence.
Also-I still don't see where food matters much. Could you clarify when you use it? I haven't seen you eating food in any video yet.

Per, Con, Spd are all secondary stats, if I had to choose which of those to prioritize it would be at what point in the game... Con is more important early game and Spd is more important late game- Per gear can frankly be stored and taken on and off when you need it for trap/secret finding.

Primary stats will become better than secondary Con around the time +2 gear starts to show up, at around that time Con will start to become less and less useful and primary stats are in. So a +2 Str ring shows up? Replace you +1 Con rings and so on...

In my B. Rex video you will see me use food, which is frankly only used by Madora because of her 5 Star talent and only used as an early game upgrade to the healing potions available. Why do I recommend the food that I do? Because with the talent, a -1 to Spd becomes a -2 and that is a needless handicap. Food is used as a healing potion upgrade for Madora from around levels 1-15, use them like potions. The stats you get from them do not last long and are not huge- encourage skill gives +1 all stats to entire party for example.

Hello,
-I haven't be able to craft +speed dagger or +1 max ap sword with crafting+blacksmith LVL1. Is there a minimal level for it ?
- For gold making I was wondering if I shouldn't wait blacksmith and crafting being lvl 5(with gear) before using my iron bar, staff, ... ?

AFAIK you need 5 Blacksmithing for it, which I think you can hit at level 7 at earliest on a mule (Scientist talent + all points in blacksmithing + blacksmithing gloves and belt).

As I go over in the video, I do three major crafting's, one around level 7 (in the video, that game it was 9), one around level 14 and the last around 18-22. As FG said, the earliest you will most likely get a mule with blacksmithing/crafting high enough would be around level 7. You can craft and sell swords/axes before this time but you will just be making much less doing it. The +1 stats start showing up on gear post level 7, +2 shows up a few levels later (all in video).

Most of the money made between levels 1-7 is done by stealing, if you aren't willing to do that than you will struggle with money until post level 7. All other money making crafting suggestions for post level 7 are found in video.

I have tried to figure out how you get to other towns (besides Silverglen) so early to buy tenebrium for weapons and more tormented souls. I have watched your video on "opening areas" many times and simply can't figure out the others past Silverglen/ I have never been to them yet so I don't have any clues where to start

I have trouble finding cheap simple knives in order to craft them into superior daggers. I found some on taverns early in the game but now I am level 12 and there aren't many left in the world - not even the merchants have any.
Any thoughts?

Your homestead and hall of heroes have plenty of knives. Also, for some reason, I can't use dagger+tooth to make stun arrowheads. It has to be knife+tooth. So make sure you keep a spare knife in case you mass transform them.

When crafting an axe for dual wield, do you look for base damage or +to crit. I have 2 axes at lvl 16, one is 105-188 dmg with +7% chance to crit, the other is 132-234 dmg

+ to crit is what you are looking for. Once you get it you can increase base damage at any grindstone

I don't know if it was changed at some point, but iron + iron gives you big iron, not steel. Axes always sell for slightly more than swords and do more damage, so there's no reason not to.

Ssenkradd_II probably just didn't mention this to streamline the guide, but both Evelyn and the doctor (Thaurissan?) sell one drudanae each (vine looking plant with a flower. Used for charm arrows at around crafting 4) and resurrect scrolls. They also sell potions which can also be used for decent crafts. Fire potions + arrowhead = exploding arrowhead and air potion + arrowhead = static cloud arrowhead. Armor potion + air potion = invisibility (if you don't use this, don't bother with whisperwood or armor potions). Finally, air + water or earth + fire = minor resist all.

You can also talk to the librarian for empty elemental scrolls. Put two of them together for scrollbooks or create your own scrolls with an enchanted quill and ink (feather + knife = quill. Quill + ink pot = quill and ink. Toss that with pixie dust. It never gets used up). The army sergeant will sometimes have unique stuff (actually, any random person has a chance, but he seems to sell it more often).

Against the fire enemies in the first area, pumpkin helmets aren't terrible. Pumpkin + knife/dagger will give you a silly looking helmet with fire protection and more armor than any other helmet

You can usually buy 3-6 bottles from the tavern keepers and waitresses. Smash 'em and stick them in round empty grenades (rather than use the liquids in food recipes and turn the empty bottles into Molotov Cocktails (ie Firestorm Grenades)).

That was a typo, thank you for catching it. I was referring to changing bars into large bars and how selling two handed weapons (axe or sword) does not yield as much money as their smaller counterparts.

Crafted the +1 ap swords, and it shows in my inventory as the price being 667g, but when I try to sell them to anyone in Cyseal the balance is like 280g that the vendor wants to give me. I can't find anything on if this is bug or what. Any ideas?

The value of the weapon (item) isn't the sell value. The sell value is determined by how much the person you are trading with likes you (affection) and the barter skill of the person that is selling. To increase someone's affection towards you simply bribe them a bit (give them items without asking for anything in return). This will pay off in the long run with vendors that have a lot of money.

Will try that. The fish vendor has a 45 star rating (my highest) with me but was only willing to give me about 295 for them. Will try upping my rating. Thanks

Shadowblade: 2x +1 speed dagger
Dual Wielding: +1 speed dagger & 4% crit Axe

I will oc add tormented soul(only have 4 however..) and improved dmg. Should I already add tenebrium if available or/and ? element damage ?

That's perfect.

Buffalo saber/Sword of Planets is optional but a good choice.

Tenebrium at 7 and 14, elemental at 22

Great guides, thank you so much! Quick question, I'm level 8 right now and I have 28 iron bars. I keep crafting them into custom made swords and back and none of them are proccing the +1 AP you mentioned. Am I missing something or is it just a really rare proc?

Also how many should I proc and sell before I stop. Should I use up all of my irons and sell all the swords? Or just keep on going until every single one procs the +1?

Thanks!

If your crafting/blacksmith skills are not at level 5 you won't be able to craft certain items/certain item bonuses won't appear on the weapons regardless of your level.

If you want more specific details on when i buy/sell/craft check out my video titled the same. Personally I wouldn't go through making sure every weapon spawned with +1 AP because it is way too time consuming and you will have plenty of money- just leave the weapons which didn't spawn with +1 AP in your mule's inventory for your next run.

Hey thanks! Yeah I figured it out I just needed a higher skill as you mentioned. It actually wasn't too hard to get them all to have the +1 AP. If you use the 'recipes' tab you can craft all of them at once and usually half of each batch procs the +1.

Thanks again!

Should i prio +bow/two-handed/dualwielding vs dex/str/int
your video says to look for the former but doesn't really go into depth why

Crafting robes can yield a +1/2/3 speed bonus. I think its worth noting as a pretty incredible armor option.
